Proposed Middle School Schedule Change - Common Questions and Answers

Parent FAQ’s -  en español

1. Why move to an eight-period day?  The move to an eight-period day better fits the developmental needs of middle school students, allows time for teachers to collaborate during the normal school day, is aligned with the current middle school reforms, and allows students to take more electives.

Strategy 12: Look for and expect student growth

An environment that sets high expectations for student achievement is an environment that sets up students for success. Whether through conversations at school, celebrating student accomplishments or simply monitoring day-to-day performance, high expectations by staff translate to high expectations by students themselves.

Strategy 11: Better Support Special Education

Co-teaching in the classroom provides support and benefits all the students in that classroom. This teaching model, when implemented in all middle schools in a uniform manner, can only enhance the learning environment where all students can be successful.
